Health Guidelines for Yellow Fever Prevention

To protect public health, India enforces strict entry protocols for travelers arriving from regions where Yellow Fever is prevalent. In line with World Health Organization (WHO) standards, anyone entering India by air or sea from such areas must present a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate.

Entry Requirements for Incoming Travelers

All travelers—Indian citizens and foreign nationals—are required to carry proof of Yellow Fever
vaccination if arriving from or transiting through countries where the disease is endemic. Infants under six
months are exempt. Travelers who fail to produce a valid certificate will be quarantined for up to six days
to ensure they are not carrying the virus into the country. This measure is critical to prevent potential
outbreaks.

Departure Guidelines for Outbound Travelers

India does not impose mandatory health screenings for passengers leaving the country for Yellow
Fever-affected destinations. However, it is strongly recommended that travelers receive the Yellow Fever
vaccine and carry their vaccination certificate to comply with destination country requirements and
safeguard their health.

Visa Policy for Travelers from Yellow Fever-Endemic Nations

Indian embassies and consulates abroad issue visas to applicants from Yellow Fever-affected regions
only after verifying a valid vaccination certificate. Once confirmed, the visa will include the annotation:
“Valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate Checked.”
